How to to install a system software update or patch file on a 3VR VIP Appliance?

Use the following steps to install a system software update or patch file on a 3VR VIP Appliance:

  1. Sign into System Manager with a user account that has integrator permissions (e.g., techrep or equivalent).

  2. Click Maintenance to go to the Maintenance panel and select Update Software tab.

  3. Check the box next to the name of the appliance to select it.

  4. Click Inspect. Check the Status column to verify that the system is in a ready state:

    • OK” is displayed if the system is operating normally and ready to be upgraded

    • Unauthorized” will be displayed if the current user is not authorized to upgrade software on the selected server.

    • Unreachable” will be displayed if the system is not in a state where it can be upgraded.

  5. Click Update. In the Choose 3VR Update File window, locate the file you wish to install on the
    appliance (3VR system software files have the extension .3pa).

  6. Select the file and click OK.
    The Status column will show the status of the update as it progresses.

  7. When the update is complete, the Messages panel will show the appliance’s name and IP address followed by “Done”.

  8. Close System Manager.
