Reset Encryption Flowchart

 

Resetting Encryption SNIB2 / SNIB3

 

Introduction

 

Encrypted communication between Velocity and the SNIB can be broken either because the controller was power cycled with its encryption key turned on (dipswitch 1 (S1) on switch bank 2 (SW2)), or encryption was reset in the port properties on a valid connection.

 

Below is one of the two messages in Event Viewer indicating encryption needs resetting.

Encryption Broken. Polling halted.

Components of the SNIB3

Solution

Step 1: Physically set dipswitch 1 (S1) on switch bank 2 (SW2) to the ON position.

Step 2: With the switch ON, cycle power to the Controller.

Step 3: Allow the controller to fully boot. SNIB P1 LED should toggle back and forth and the system LED on the controller will flash steady green.

Step 4: In Velocity, open the port properties and check the box to reset encryption. Press OK.

 

 

 

Step 5: Set dipswitch 1 (S1) on switch bank 2 (SW2) to the OFF position to preserve encryption.
