Symptoms
Issue: An error may occur during the installation of the 5.1 cumulative patch hotfixes. The error will prevent the installation process from completing successfully.
This error can be easily identified through the following error entries found in the installation log file:
e054: Failed to resolve source for file: C:\Users\<USER>\Downloads\redist\ndp48-web.exe, error: 0x80070002.
e000: Error 0x80070002: Failed while prompting for source (original path 'C:\Users\<USER>\Downloads\redist\ndp48-web.exe').Cause
The error occurs because the computer system where you are trying to install the cumulative patches does not have .NET Framework 4.8 runtime installed.
Steps to apply the hotfix
To successfully complete the installation, follow these steps:
Download .NET Framework 4.8 [ndp48-web.exe].
Install the .NET Framework.
Please note that the .NET Framework installation requires a machine reboot.
Resolution
When the .NET 4.8 installation is complete and the machine has been restarted, you can install the 5.1 hotfixes without an issue.
