This page is intended to be used as tips for user experiences. It is in no way a requirement to follow these guidelines.

Each setting discussed below is a preference and not a requirement.

Enable ‘Restore Alarm Viewer on New Alarm’

  • If the end user wants their system pulling the Alarm Viewer to the front of a the screen each time an alarm occurs, enable this in Alarm Viewer Properties.

  • Default, this window will not come to the front of Velocity each time an alarm occurs.

    • Select Alarm Viewer Properties

    • Select Restore Alarm Viewer on New Alarm

    • Select OK to save

Disable Default Alarm Sound

  • If the end user does not want their system sounding continuously until each alarm is silenced, disable this property in Velocity Preferences.

  • Default, the system will sound until an alarm is acknowledged.

    • Select the ID icon in the top left of Velocity.

    • Select Preferences

    • Select Alarm Options

    • Check Disable Default Alarm Sound (Beep)

    • Select OK to save

Define Printers in Velocity Preferences

  • Defining printers is important to be able to print Reports, Badges and Alarms/Events from Velocity.

    • Select the ID icon in the top left of Velocity.

    • Select Preferences

    • Select Printers

    • Select Printers for each type

    • Select OK to save

Display Code in Event Viewer Upon “Access denied: CODE” Event

  • Default, Velocity will display “Access denied: CODE” when an invalid credential is displayed

  • To allow Velocity to display the Code, open Controller Properties, select Reporting, then uncheck Invalid Codes

  • Once enabled, an “Access denied: CODE” event will display as below:

  • The code can then be added as a credential to the Person as needed.

Enable Controller Time in Event Viewer

  • If the end user would like their Controller’s time to display in Event User, you can enable this in Properties

  • Right Click on the Event Viewer, and select Properties

  • Inside Properties, select Controller Time

  • Select OK
