Assa Abloy Integration Guide

Overview

Primis 11.4 is able to integrate with Assa Abloy Wi-Fi and PoE locks and treat them as part of the Primis Access Control System. Primis communicates and manages Wireless Access Points via Assa Abloy’s Door Access Router (DSR). This DSR runs on a Windows server environment and communicates with Primis through its SOAP API interface.

Once integrated, Assa Abloy’s Wi-Fi and PoE locks will be mapped as Primis Wireless Devices. These mapped devices can then be assigned to Primis Wireless Controlled Areas. Wireless Controlled Areas can have unlock schedules and associated Access Groups as if they are regular Door Areas. Primis also collects Access Event logs from End users are able to manage Wireless Lock users and credentials in the same manner as the rest of the system without worrying about the underlying architecture of Wireless Access Points.

 

 

 

DSR Configuration

To configure Assa Abloy Integration in Primis:

  1. Login to Primis with the system account.

  2. Click on the System navigation tab.

  3. On the left, click on the ASSA ABLOY link.

     

  4. Enter the name of the DSR server. This can be any arbitrary name and does not have to reflect the DSR servers hostname.

  5. Enter DSR IP - this is the IP Address of DSR server. Default port is 8080.

  6. Enter Callback IP – this is the IP Address used by the DSR server to report event logs back to Primis. The IP Address should be the Primis server’s own IP and default port number is 9001.

  7. User Limit – this controls the maximum number of cardholder information that can be stored in the ASSA ABLOY Wi-Fi and PoE locks. This value should reflect the User Limit set on the DSR under DSR Tools Configuration Settings -> Device Specific Commands -> Default Settings -> Lock Limits. The User Limit specified in Primis should be less than or equal to DSR’s default user limit.

  8. Click Save to update DSR Settings. In a few minutes, the Status tab below will display various interface statuses. Should the DSR Interface status remains Offline after a few minutes, reboot the Primis server.

     

  9. Configure Access Points (Wi-Fi and PoE Locks) to connect to DSR using Assa Abloy’s Lock Configuration Tool (LCT). Once Access Points are configured, they should appear in Primis under the Access Points tab.

     

  10. To integrate a Wireless Access Point into Primis, there are 4 simple steps:

    1. Confirm – to let DSR confirm that the Access Point will be in use.

    2. Import – to map the Access Point into a Primis wireless lock device.

    3. Assign Controlled Area – Create a Wireless Lock Controlled Area and assign it with the Access Point.

    4. Assign Access – assign the Wireless Lock Area to Access Group as if it were a regular Door Area.

  11. To Confirm an Access Point with DSR, click the corresponding green Confirm Device button.

    Access Point’s Confirm status will change to  

    in the next few minutes. This process could take some time; depending on the wake-up interval of the Access Point.

     

  12. Once the device is confirmed, click the blue Import Device button to map the access point to a Primis Assa Abloy Wireless Lock Device:

     

    Primis will proceed to an Add Custom Device page, and the name of the Access Point and the Door ID will be populated automatically. Click Save and then Cancel.

     

  13. Click Controlled Areas tab, and click Add Controlled Area.

  14. In Area Type, make sure Wifi Lock Area is selected. Then select the mapped Wifi Device under Wifi Lock:

     

  15. Click Save.

  16. Assign the Wifi Lock Area to User Access Group. The Wifi Lock is now ready to be used.

DSR Configuration Options

Name of the DSR server

DSR IP

IP address of the DSR API Interface, default port is 8080 e.g. http://192.168.123.104:8080/

Callback IP

This the the IP address for DSR to report events to Primis. Default port is 9001. IP address should be the same as that of the Primis server. e.g. http://192.168.123.101:9001/

User Limit

This is the maximum number of card numbers that can be stored in Access Points. The value should reflect the “User Limit” under “Configuration Settings->Device Specific Commands->Default Settings->Lock Limits” in the DSR Support Tool software.

Card Format

For best results, always select “PROX_RAW”

Out of Sync – Unable to sync data with Access Point through DSR. A likely cause of this issue is the number of Primis Wifi Lock users/credentials have gone beyond the Lock’s limit. Administrators should check the Number Of User count in the Status tab.

Battery Status

Graphical representation of the battery level:

Battery Level: Green – High, Yellow – Good, Red – Low

External Powered (e.g. POE) Access point.

Indicates whether the Access Point is confirmed by the DSR or not:

Integration

User Controls that help manage Wifi Lock Integration:


Import Device – maps the Access Point to a Primis Wifi Lock Device.

Confirm Device – to confirm an Access Point is to let DSR accept it as part of its Sync target.

Reload Device – manually sync the Access Point Device.

Remove Device – remove this device from DSR’s Sync list.

Other Manual Operations

Manually push updated data to DSR Support Tool Service.

Manually Sync data to Devices that are out-of-sync.

Manually Sync all Access Point Devices.

DSR Sync Schedule

Primis is designed to synchronize with DSR/Access Points daily. By default, updated cardholder/credential information is sent to DSR every day after midnight. Administrators can adjust this schedule in the Sync Schedule tab.

To adjust Sync Schedule, simply check and uncheck the available time slot, and click Save to apply the update.

DSR Integration Status

The rightmost tab in the DSR Configuration screen contains integration service and troubleshooting tools:

This indicates whether Primis’s DSR Integration service is running or not. Should this status be Offline, Administrators need to verify if Primis has valid Wifi Lock licenses.

DSR Access Control / DSR Management

Interfaces.

These two status indicates whether Primis has established a connection with the DSR Support Tool Service. Should these two statuses be Offline, Administrators need to verify DSR Url.

DSR Callback Interface

This indicates whether DSR Support Tool Service is able to report live events to Primis.

AMS Client

To able Access Point event logs to be reported by Primis. AMS Lite needs to be enabled. This status indicates whether Primis’s DSR Integration service is able to send events back to Primis.

Number Of User

This indicates the number of Wifi Lock users that will be sent to Access Points during Sync cycles. This number should not exceed the User Limit setting in DSR. Also, the User Limit setting in Primis allows Primis to suspend Sync activity should the Number of User exceed its value.

Troubleshooting

Administrators may restart various components within the DSR Integration manually. Caution is required. The possible actions are:

This restarts the connection to AMS Lite server.

Reset DSR Data

This allows Administrators to clear and refresh Wifi User data that is sent to DSR Support Tool Service.

Restart Message Queue

This restarts the connection between Primis Server and its internal DSR Integration Service.
