The following steps should be performed on both OnGuard client and server installs:

  1. Extract IPP5.1.1installer.zip.

  2. Open the underlying folder and double-click setup.exe. The Intel IPP 5.1 will install automatically.

  1. Double-click 6.x 3VR Accessory Add-On.msi to start the install.

  2. You will see a warning message that says “The runtime installation of Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0 and Install IPP 5.1.1 are prerequisite to this add-on. Exit the add-on installation if the prerequisite has not been met”. Click OK.

  3. Click Install.
    A SQL Server Login dialog box will appear. Enter the Lenel SQL server login ID and password and click OK.

  4. Click Finish to complete the install.

Creating an OnGuard User Account

  1. Launch 3VR SystemManager.

  2. Click the Manage Users tab.

  3. Click the New button to create a new user account.

  4. In the Edit User dialog, modify the following fields:

    • Enter a user name for the account, for example onguarduser.

    • Enter and re-enter the password.

    • Set the Role to Integrator.

    • Set the Auto Sign Out property to Never.

  5. If you are working on a 3VR system connected to an Enterprise Appliance, check the box next to the Enterprise under Authorized Regions and ServersAppliances.

  6. Click Save to create the new account.

Setting the SmartRecorder NTP Server

  1. In System Manager, click the Configure tab and select the name of the system in the left-hand panel. The system settings will populate on the right side.

  2. Click Common Operations.

  3. Click Date and Time Settings.

  4. Select Automatically set time radio button from a remote server.

  5. Enter the NTP Server address. This should be the same NTP server used to set time on the OnGuard machines.

  6. Click Test Connection and verify that the connection is successful.

  7. Click Save.

  8. In the resulting dialog, click OK to confirm.

  9. Close System Manager.

  1. On the OnGuard server, launch the OnGuard System Administration application.

  2. From the Video menu, select Digital Video.

  3. Click Add.

  4. In the Name field, enter in a name for your new Video Recorder.

  5. From the Video Recorder Type drop-down, select 3VR SmartRecorder.

  6. In the Workstation field, enter the hostname of the OnGuard workstation. Alternatively, you can click the Browse button and browse for the hostname.

  7. Select Use IP Address of Video Recorder radio button and enter the IP address of the 3VR Smart Recorder.

  8. Enter the login information for the account you created in step 4 in the User Name and Password fields.

  9. Click OK. It can take up to 2 minutes to add the recorder.

  10. In the resulting System Administration dialog box, click the OK button.

  11. When the Monitor Zone Assignments window appears, select the appropriate monitor zones and click OK.

Adding Cameras to OnGuard

  1. Launch the OnGuard System Administration application.

  2. From the Video menu, select Digital Video.

  3. Select the Camera tab.

  4. Click Add.

  5. Enter the camera name in the Name field.

  6. Select the Recorder name from the Recorder drop-down menu.

  7. Enter the channel number in the Channel field.

  8. Click OK.

Verifying Video

  1. Launch OnGuard VideoViewer.

Perform this step to link a device, such as a reader, to a camera connected to the 3VR SmartRecorder. This will enable you to access video associated with the device from OnGuard applications. For example, right-clicking an alarm in the Alarm Monitoring application will give you the option “Launch Video” Launch Videoin the menu that appears.

  1. Launch the OnGuard System Administration application.

  2. From the Video menu, select Digital Video.

  3. Select the Device – Camera Links tab.

  4. Click Add.

  5. Select the device type from the Device Type drop-down. This will most likely be a reader.

  6. To filter devices by panel, select a panel from the drop-down. To search for device by name, enter in the search term and click the Find button.

  7. Select the device.

  8. Click the Next button.

  9. Select the video recorder from the Video Recorder drop-down.

  10. Click the camera icon next to a camera to link it to the device. The selected camera will be indicated with a red check mark symbol.

  11. Click the Save Link(s) button.

Appendix B

Client Installation

If changing the Video Mode does not resolve the video issue, you can also adjust the Hardware Acceleration setting on the OnGuard machine. The default value is Full hardware acceleration, however if you are experiencing video issues you can adjust the setting to None. Use the following steps to modify the hardware acceleration:

  1. Open the Control Panel.

  2. Select Display.

  3. Click the Settings tab.

  4. Click the Advanced button.

  6. Drag the Hardware acceleration slider to the left (None).

  7. Click OK.
